Crackington Haven Surf Life Saving Club is a volunteer-led organisation, dedicated to improving the safety of our beaches and seas.
Founded on 22/09/1959 to train and support lifeguards for local beaches. We provide ocean lifesaving coaching to members age 7+
Nippers
Younger members learn about the sea and beach environment, becoming familiar with different types of waves, tides and rip currents to allow them to assess risk and stay safe. They start to develop general first–aid, lifesaving techniques and learn about lifeguard flags and signals. Nippers must be able to swim 50m competently in pool or sea.Juniors
From 13 to 16 members build on their lifeguarding skills aiming for qualifications in lifeguarding and the coveted Beach Lifeguard Award. This is an internationally recognized standard for beach lifeguards worldwide. Many RNLI lifeguards on our beaches are graduates of their local Surf Lifesaving club.Seniors
Adult members provide the coaching and water safety support needed to run the training sessions, on a volunteer basis. They also organize fundraising needed to purchase and maintain the equipment essential to the operation of the club. We would be happy to hear from you if you would like to volunteer, there are lots of ways to get involved and training will be provided wherever necessary.Ethos
Value
We value our club and club house, it is all of our responsibility to look after it. If you see something broken please let someone know. Tidy up on arrival and before locking up.
Support
Support the club and it will support you. Club activities, fundraising and helping other members progress makes for an inclusive and happy club to be part of. Together we can make some great things happen.
Include
The club is made of members, and each and everyone has a part to play in the future. The nipper today is the lifeguard of our beach tomorrow so respect and nurture all.
Enjoy
Enjoy the club for what it can offer you- new skills, friendship, training and strength in the water. Be a role model for the club and respect the lifeguards on duty
